Hello!

Born in Maryland, I relocated to Massachusetts to pursue a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling and Music Therapy. As I continue on my journey of connecting to my identity, I hope to support others in their journeys. I recognize the challenges of establishing a new therapeutic relationship and hope to provide services that enable my clients to work collaboratively towards achieving their goals. I am passionate about the privilege of working with diverse clients.

I see the therapeutic relationship as the most valuable tool for your growth. Working together, we will identify what you need to live a purposeful life and have the relationships you seek. I strongly believe in Sankofa, which teaches us that we must go back to our roots to move forward. I hope to function as a guide, collaboratively working with you to find growth. My clinical experience includes working with adults who are managing complex, intense emotions, behaviors that are challenging, and/or struggling with toxic relationships.

I offer a client-centered, trauma-informed, culturally affirming lens for individuals of color who manage life in the midst of racism and oppression. As a board-certified music therapist, I can also offer music therapy experiences to address your needs.

My Story

I am a cisgender, heterosexual black woman, descendant of people from Africa who were enslaved. Due to colonization, I am in the process of learning how to reclaim wisdom from my ancestors and elders while experiencing the disconnection that comes from living in and with the oppression of white supremacy and pervasive anti-Blackness. I attended predominantly white institutions and returned home to a poor but loving family that found liberation through music, food, community, and laughter.

Who Am I?

I am a hip shaker. A dancer.  I begin my day dancing.

And then I move to singing. I move my body and then I let my voice tell my story.

I let my hair do what it wants.

I am a listener. I listen to others’ stories and see myself in them.

I am a traveler. I am grounded when I am in new places.

I am a baker. When I am in the kitchen, I feel connected to the other women in my life who gave me nourishment.

I take care of others (people/ plants) and am continually reminded through this process to take care of myself.

I am reconnecting with myself, my history, my family. I am excited about the responsibility of sharing my story and my family’s story.

I am supported.
